OTTAWA – The idea of embattled Mayor of Toronto, Rob Ford, as the Prime Minister of Canada had plenty of MP’s in stitches on Monday.
The comment was made by Ford during an interview with Fox News on Sunday.
When asked what he thought, Saskatchewan MP Garry Breitkreuz had trouble responding through his chuckles.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, Paul Calandra, smirked as he reacted to the comment.
“It’s a job that all Canadians should aspire to but I think that obviously the mayor has a lot of things he needs to deal with in his personal life, and I think he should focus on that.”
Others say it’s a crazy idea, that Ford is delusional, and one MP even suggested that he may be missing a few brain cells.
A spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s office said that while they can’t comment on Ford’s political goals, he pointed out that the government does not condone illegal drug use, especially by elected officials while in office.
